About the tournament:
Presented by K2 Unlimited, the Brehon Blue Ribbon Shamble is Monday, October 29, 2007 at Killearn Country Club. The shotgun tournament begins at 9 a.m. and concludes with a barbecue lunch. Entry fees include greens and cart fees as well as drinks, snacks and lunch. Players can sign up for the event by contacting Jackie Malone, executive director of Brehon Institute for Family Services.
A modified scramble event is also featured, in which the best drive is selected and each team member plays from that location. The lowest scoring team wins the event. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. There's also a side game, in which a blue golf ball is assigned to each team on its starting hole. Each player will play the blue golf ball for an entire hole, and the lowest team score for all 18 holes wins the side game. If no team finishes with the blue golf ball, then the lowest scoring team with the most completed holes is the winner.
Proceeds from the Brehon Blue Ribbon Shamble will benefit the agency and its maternity home, Brehon House. Last year, Brehon assisted 1,369 people with shelter, family support services and parent education in the Big Bend area.
